a castle shrouded in a sunset glow, showing off the new elevated buildings
Hi, bees!

After a much-deserved winter vacation, our favorite duo are back! Tom and Ana sent out a newsletter today, giving us a sneak peek at the Glade's newest build improvements.

With bridges as the goal, Ana put in a lot of work and several tries to perfect an elevated building mechanic. Now, your castles can have even more dimension than before. Diagonals, overhangs, birdges, and more! Your cute little castles can be as quirky and twisted as you please 🥰

These new changes also mean that Tom and Ana worked on a way to make the new additions blend seamlessly—cohesively—into the original build structures. Now, when an overhang or bridge is placed and moved around, brackets, supports, and stone pillars will form and adapt as you build.

Another cool improvement we get to see is the addition of merlons to make up for the seams that form at the conjunction of tiled and flat roofs.

Now that a lot of the game's more intentional mechanics are taken care of (there's always room for new things to come up and be added!), Ana says that the majority of their time now goes to putting together a demo and preparing the full game for release.

Performance, debugging, and optimization have been Ana and Tom's chief concerns on most days and that makes for some pretty cool screenshots lol

With Tiny Glade getting closer and closer to ready, I'm happy to report that Production Lead Ana says there is an actual launch window in mind for this year!! Yes. We will (hopefully) be getting our hands on Tiny Glade sometime after June's Steam Next Fest—Summer 2024 is the current release window for this charming little sandbox builder. Issues, larger game launches, or other reality bricks could potentially push things back, but it's very nice to have an actual time period in mind; especially one so soon!

Just think: even if summer doesn't happen, we'll likely be building cozy little castles among adorable little sheep before the end of the year 🤩
